G8 foreign ministers meet fter breakdown in Serb pull-out talks

BONN, June 7 (AFP)

G8 foreign ministers met here Monday to try to salvage the Kosovo peace process and finalize a UN resolution after NATO and Yugoslavia failed to reach agreement on a troop withdrawal from the province.

NATOs bombing of Yugoslavia was resumed with renewed intensity Monday after the breakdown of talks on a withdrawal of Yugoslav troop and Serb police units from Kosovo.

US state department spokesman James Rubin said the goal of the G8 meeting was to work expeditiously so we can present the draft (of a resolution on Kosovo) to the Security Council.

Commenting on Russian claims that the west is imposing last-minute changes, Rubin said: NATOs conditions remain the same. They are unchanging.
