ALMATY, June 24 (THE GLOBE)
On June 19 in Almaty the concert of two prominent musicians Gauhar Murzabekova and Temirzhan Yerzhanov was given at the Zhambyls State Philharmonic Society. Compositions of Prokofiyev, Ravel, Beethoven and Shuman were performed at the concert.
On that warm summer day the audience present at the concert could evaluate not only irreproachable performance of the great musicians Gauhar Murzabekova (violin) and Temirzhan Yerzhanov (piano), but also interpretations of the performed compositions which do not have analogous. Such a well-coordinated performance of the ensemble, stylistic literacy and perfect performance of classic and modern compositions proved that these two persons having different temperaments and characters could create and present one single thing Music which touched peoples souls and impressed their consciousness. This was proved by applauds which did not permit the musicians to go: the duet of Gauhar Murzabekova and Temirzhan Yerzhanov has been respected and recognised by the Almaty audience.
Gauhar Murzabekove is a famous violinist, the laureate of the international competition who graduated from Chaikovskys Moscow State Conservatory in Moscow (David Oistrach and Oleg Krysas class). She began its creative activity as a soloist of the Kazakh State Philharmonic Society. For the last two years she established the chamber orchestra Kamerata of Kazakhstan and was the head of this orchestra. Recently Kamerata headed by its leader returned from Prague, where it gave some successful performances. Gauhar Murzabekovas performance first of all strikes audiences attention with its intonation accuracy. Moreover, the violinist till the end of her performance observes this accuracy. This important element of the professional performance undoubtedly makes her different from other musicians of Kazakhstan. Temirzhan Yerzhanov, the laureate of the firm premium of Robert Shumans International Competition in Germany (one of the most prestigious competitions) who graduated from Chaikovskys Moscow State Conservatory (professor Michail Voskresenskys class) and is famous in Kazakhstan not only as the greatest pianist, but as a musician whose name (of the first Kazakh musician) was included in the list of owners of the gold medal of the International Competition. His name was also drawn at marble plate with gold letters at the house-museum of the greatest composer-romantic Robert Shuman.
Nothing may be said about Temirzhan Yerzhanov as a talented pianist, and about his individual manner of performance. You should hear him. Then music will say everything. There is something unique and inimitable in his performance. It is difficult to describe this

VEVEY, June 25 (THE GLOBE)
Nestl, the Swiss colossus active in the food industry, has announced its 1998 results with a communiqu just launched by its Vevey HQ on Lake Leman.
In spite of a heavy crisis that has plagued some of the most absorbing markets of the world, the group has carried out a profit increase of 2.6% compared to 1997, corresponding to a nett profit, after taxes, of 4,291 billion SF. Many countries do not reach such figure in terms of national balance
A number of sectors have been responding quite promisingly, such as the ready-to-eat frozen food, mineral waters and the pharmaceutical ones which have contributed extensively to the success of the company last years.
The board of directors will propose the payment of a dividend of 38 SF per share, 3 francs up compared to the 97 dividend.
Regarding 1999 the communiqu indicates that the group forecasts an increase of turnover and profit since some of the turbulences that hit some markets have lost momentum, and
recovery of their economies is currently taking place. No problems have been recorded, instead, in such markets as the American and the European ones where sales have expanded as a result of healthy economies. Good results have been gathered from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East where the trend is likely to continue.
During 1998 the group has also undertaken some changes in terms of divestments and acquisitions, which have counted respectively for a 1% contraction and a 3.9% improvement.
In the troubled markets the group has been able to change its strategies in limited times, so to reduce to the max unnecessary risks. Particularly where national currencies have been devaluated, Nestl had to match a substantial increase of costs which has reduced the nevertheless promising results.
