We have written already about miraculous recipes of aromatherapy. We would like to add that apart from aesthetic and magic properties, aromatic substances had medical ones.
It is known that in mediaeval centuries black death was a social evil. That time people struggle against this disease with the help of fumigation. It was considered that fumigation destroys both bad aura and the dangerous disease. Doctors recommended people to pick roots and flowers of aromatic plants, to dry them and to burn.
During the Great Plague aromatic fires were burnt in the town every in 12 hours. Huge fires made of pines gave a pungent smell that was very efficient. Aromatic candles were used in hospitals. Every aromatic substance known in that period, was used against Black Devil. Aromatic substances were the best antiseptics, which people could afford.
In the early 20th century aromatic fever at first stroke Frenchmen, later people all over the world. the guilty person was Ernest Bo, a creator of the most famous perfume Chanel #5.
Before the revolution the outstanding chemist-perfumer worked for Alfonse Ralle in St. Petersburg. After the revolution, having lost both his status and money, he moved to the French perfume capital, Graas.
There are some legends how the aroma of love Chanel #5 was created. People say that the French perfumer demanded too much money for his creation, hence, his perfume was rejected everywhere. Having despaired, Ernest Bo was going to give up his idea, but he was lucky. He met madam Chanel and demonstrated some aromas to her. She chose #5.
As far as the name of the perfume is concerned, madam Chanel said she would present her new collection in May. The perfume symbolizing Chanels image and the fifth month May, was presented at the same show. In Chanels opinion, figure five was to make her lucky. She was right. During her life this perfume earned US$ 15 million for the great dress-designer.
Today Chanel firm has a number of aromas (Allure, Chanel #19, 21, Soso, etc.) charming with their pretentious novelties.

On Tuesday, December 14, the presentation of the photo exhibition People and Wars organized by the International Red Cross Committee (IRCC) and the Kazakhstani Society of Red Cross and Red Crescent, was held in the Central State Museum.
The exhibition People and Wars that will be held on December 15 to 23 is one of the events to spread knowledge on international humanitarian law. In March 1993 Kazakhstan undertook responsibility to distribute knowledge, when the republic jointed four Geneva conventions of 1949 and two additional Protocols attached to the same. The exhibition presents 140 photos from 62 countries of the world. These photos are taken from the archives of the International Red Cross Committee. There are about 70,000 photos in the IRCC archives.
First exhibition was held in Geneva, where the IRCC headquarter located. Within the year the exhibition has been held in Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. After Kazakhstan the exhibition will be demonstrated in Tajikistan.
According to Louisa Verucci, a IRCC delegate, the objective of this exhibition is to emphasize that there are laws restricting methods and means of the war.
The exhibitions route is to go via unstable regions. They are Caucasus, Russia and Central Asia.
Amirbek Togusov, the deputy of the Minister of Defense on social-legal work and Verucci assured us that this exhibition is rather a proof of stability in Kazakhstan, than destabilization in the region.

The device was referred to as the electronic engineers dream. In its original form, the transistor wasnt the tiny silicon component we know today. It took up a lot of space in the lab in New Jersey where it was invented. Today, thousands of transistors can be paced into an incredibly minute space, smaller than a pinhead; and is used in electronic applications, such as computers, radios, TVs and video games, to name just a few.
