ALMATY, June 17
(THE GLOBE)
Her father was Roberto Rossellini, one of Italys greatest directors, and her mother was the luminous Ingrid Bergman. (Her parents scandalous union in the fifties was denounced by a U.S. Senator and Prime Minister Nehru.) Isabella Rossellini put up a good fight against her cinematic chromosomes; she taught and translated Italian, and was a New York correspondent for Italian television before succumbing to the camera. Bearing a strong resemblance to her mother, Isabellas beautiful face appeared on more than 500 magazine covers and in countless commercials before showing up on the American silver screen. She married director Martin Scorsese, and later took up with director David Lynch after he cast her in a stunningly kinky part in Blue Velvet. A tempestuous relationship with the temperamental Gary Oldman followed. Rossellini enjoys mocking her perfect, creamy looks and poise (did you catch her appearance on Friends?), and though she was an awesomely convincing Lancme spokeswoman, the cosmetics giant decided to replace her with a younger model. She subsequently developed her own cosmetics line with Lancaster Group Worldwide.
