Almaty

532 persons were questioned
From June 1 to 4 the KITEL-99 exhibition will be held in Almaty. According to this weeks social poll, every fourth citizen of the southern capital knows about this exhibition.
Every tenth citizen visited the previous exhibitions that have been held for six years. Every fifth man knows what goods will be presented at the exhibition. When asked what do you associate KITEL with? respondents who have never been in these exhibition pavilions, answered:
(% of the polled)
Office furniture | 9.4 |
Cat food | 8.1 |
Office equipment | 19.4 |
Military uniform | 2.5 |
Childrens food | 2.5 |
Kitchen equipment | 11.3 |
Others | 33.8 |
The greatest number of respondents thought that the exhibition deals with office equipment. Computers and software can also be referred to the office equipment, meaning that the logotype works.
34.4% of the respondents are interested in personal computers, 10% in Xeroxes, 6.3% in modems, and 6.3% in CD-record-players. When asked will you visit the exhibition if there is no domestic equipment?, 33.1% answered no, 19.4% answered yes, and for 43.8%it was difficult to answer.
To the question In what are you interested more? the answers were as follows: (% of the polled)
Air Conditioners | 10 |
Video record-players | 31.9 |
Video cameras | 31.3 |
TV sets | 31.9 |
Monoblocks | 11.3 |
Video tapes | 15.6 |
Tape-recorder | 11.3 |
Music centre | 25.6 |
None of the above mentioned | 11.9 |
It is clear from the answers that tape-recorders are no longer dreamt about, people prefer music centres (the quality of sound promotes this type of product in the market).
In our opinion, the answers to the following questions are more interesting.
What type of communication do you use? (% of the polled)
Telephone | 90.6 |
Telefax | 7.5 |
Modem | 5.6 |
Pager | 8.1 |
Cellular phone | 3.8 |
Portable radio transmitter | 0.6 |
Others | 0 |
What type of communication would you like to use? (% of the polled)
Telephone | 36.9 |
Telefax | 5.6 |
Modem | 9.4 |
Pager | 24.4 |
Cellular phone | 61.3 |
Portable radio transmitter | 9.4 |
Others | 0 |
As far as the telephone is concerned, everything is clear. But the telefax has stopped being an exotic toy, and is used only when it is required: for example, to crib Algebra homework.
Well, 61.3% of our compatriots would like to use cellular phones, though the most realistic people would prefer to use a pager (24.4%). But portable radio transmitters we can only guess: whether these men are going to play or to narrate to each other the sport programs of the satellite TV channels?
